Spring is here and I'm more than ready for it. Now I can start complaining about it getting too warm. Our tulips are up and lovely. They were a gift from his parents. We planted them in the fall at an unknown depth and in bad soil. But I guess we did something right. The cherry tree is blooming in the background.
We've decided to start a garden. Actually, I've been thinking about a garden since January. I didn't really research it though: I just dreamed about how beautiful it would be some day. The garden spot has been throughly taken over by weeds and grasses so we dug it up; a tiny bit in the fall and a lot in the last month (by no means all of it). Then we marked it off with a high tech system of sting and randomly sized sticks (why pay for stakes?). I've decided to try a square foot garden style. Someone gave me a book on it and since I know just about nothing about gardening it sounds good to me.

Ian is less comfortable with chaos so I keep reminding him this is an experiment. If it goes badly this year we'll do it differently in the future. The shovel gave him a sliver in this picture.

Honestly, it looks less than impressive. The pepper plant I bought at a store and is the only plant visible in the picture. I also have some broccoli starts and a small tomato plant my mother gave me. They're too small to show up in the picture. I only dug up the grass where I wanted to plant things. So, whenever we mow the lawn we have to mow the volunteer grass in the garden too. Don't let me fool you: I'm very proud of our little garden.
You can see a bit of my neighbor's garden across the fence. They are talented people and already have an things laid out nicely and completely planted. They give me hints and tips sometimes. Today I complained about my lack of a sprinkler and out of the kindness of their hearts they found a spare and gave it to me.

The RADDEST sprinkler in the world.
