About botany

Sometimes I feel like spring will never come.
This is my backyard.
Mostly it's covered in snow still but the path that Ian dug out to the gate last winter has melted. It is just about the only place in the yard that is uncovered. This morning while out back I noticed something amazing.

A small bit of the path crosses what will be some day our tulip patch. They're coming up. Note the weeds: I did. I tried to pull them up and realized that the ground is still frozen! I can't decide if this is an example of how amazing nature can be or tragic because the tulips may die. I could look it up but there is nothing I could do to save them if they are headed toward a chilly death so I'll just wait and see.
The snowy patch near the left fence is my future garden. I feel convinced that some day the snow will end and in a fit of optimism the other day I started some tomatoes.

Mom said that I don't really have to purchase any new gardening stuff; I can just reuse something that would otherwise be thrown out. You're a genius Mom... I hope.

Doesn't this cold weather seem to just go on and on, like a bad flu, there are days you wish you could just be put to sleep just to stop the misery. But, after looking at your pictures I realize where I live could be worse. You will definetly need to visit us to beat the winter blues. The weather man say's we will be in the 60's by the weekend.
