This morning we browsed chicken books at a book store and ordered chicken wire from the farm store. I came home with a great desire to finish it but tragically I cannot. The saw we have on loan died today. The battery has no more juice and we don't have the charger. So we have to wait until Thanksgiving weekend and hopefully we will have a charger and a saw.
But we have some things done. We converted an old fence into siding on about two sides. Neither of the two sides is complete but moving in the right direction.
That's the flashiest thing we accomplished but not all. Mom gave us some paint for the coop interior to keep the wood from breaking down and to make it easier to clean. We put down a couple of coats of that.
We were working on the nesting boxes when the battery died. We have a plan but I'm worried that someone is going to look at them partially done and recommend a completely different approach. Too late, I say. We're halfway done with our way and that's how it's going to be.
We also picked up all the two by fours we need to build the run. This might not sound like an accomplishment but there was no way Ian's car could transport 8 ft boards. Thanks to Mom, we got a ride to the lumber store in a truck last weekend and were able to get what we needed. She also brought tin for the roof. I guess that's what I could be working on right now, the roof. But it's almost winter out there. I'll just look at coop picture for now. Maybe I'll roof tomorrow.
