More about chicks

As I promised/threatened I have more picture of the chicks. Shortly after my post last weekend I too was struck down by illness and spent the weekend sleeping on the couch while Ian slept in the chair. But we're back in health and isn't it lovely? The chicks seem to be doing well and I think I can see them growing already. They poop and sleep all the time but we're fond anyway.

Ian is fond of the Americanas because of their dramatic coloring. They're the two chicks in the center of the above picture. The wyandottes look odd in comparison. They are black and white/pale yellow but there is no pattern to the spots of color on their heads.

Don't tell me you don't think that's a strange looking chick. I say that with all the love in my heart. I like the RI Reds the best. In part because everyone falls for the Americanas with their flashy colors (showoffs) and because the reds are more perky. Looks aren't every thing, you know.

Although I purchased chicks last weekend I wasn't really done with the coop. We're still not but now we are one step closer. My mom came by today and helped Ian put up a run.

It looks excellent and we know Mom deserves more than half the credit. The to do list for the coop grow shorter and shorter. Primarily latches for all the doors and a gate for the run. Mostly security measures it would seem. I do care about security, though. I don't want anything to happen to my dear little supper, um, I mean darlings. How dark.
