There is a new small mammal in my life. This month I became an aunt for the sixth time. And it doesn't get less exciting. I'll spare you the long version but my new neice is awesome. I was there for the first 12 days of sweet Paisley Mae's life and I look forward to many more. So far she's rocking some red hair. If she's lucky she'll get to keep it.
The bunnies are doing well, too. They're up and about the cage. They eat and drink the food I put out for mama but I suspect they're still nursing too. Little pigs. No wonder they grow up so fast. People say that about their children but bunnies are a whole different ball game. In two months they'll be old enough to wean and mama can be rebred. Seriously fast. The Pettett kids finally got to pick up the babies. Something they've been waiting to do all month long. The kits are still small enough that Allie, who is four, could hold one. Not well but she likes them so much it's hard to deny her request to hold just one more. Please, please, Aunt Ris. Don't judge me. Aunts are supposed to be indulgent.
So happy New Year and I hope you have lots of small mammals to love in 2012.
