A child's garment seemed like it would have most the challenges of an adult garment with a fraction of the fabric. And I know my sister will be kind about my mistakes so this is a shirt for my youngest niece.
The green fabric is from the wedding. Mom bought fabric for table clothes and then I took it home. The grey was purchased with this project in mind and I'm really happy with how they looked together. Both Clover and Ian insisted on the ruffled sleeves.
There are so many mistakes with this shirt. I have never done something lined this way. I've never hand sewn. There were so many firsts that I'm glad it got done. I threw it down in frustration more than once. I'm proud that I got it done and rather than take it apart and do it all over again I'm calling this a learning experience and moving on. To what? A second version of this top. I didn't have enough grey so I'm using some undyed muslin I had lying around. The colors don't look as good but hopefully everything else it better.
