So did I ever tell you about my spring break? Yeah, the one that happened 8 or 9 months ago.
Well, I went to Utah with a class. I was just looking at the pictures and realized I never really showed anyone. It was a quite a road trip. It's easier to remember it fondly now.

We didn't get to Zion the first night. We stayed some where in Northern Utah at the end of March. To put it simply it was one of, in not the, coldest night of my life. My tentmate didn't sleep at all because she was too cold. I was luckier and over packed. I remember this picture being taken. Everyone standing around is still not warm enough. It was so very cold.
We drove great distances, admired some mud cracks,

my favorite pictured above, and ancient shore lines. We looked at Cambrian fossils (brought some home with me) and playas.
Then we got to Zion...

The temperature was over 80 degrees that day and all the other days too. It was sunny and so beautiful. The views were amazing everywhere I looked.

Of course it was still cold and night. We also had some opportunity to learn about katabatic winds. They happen all night long in Zion Canyon. I'm not the only one who enjoyed the view.

The people who lived in this house moved here for the view. This was a house built on the sand. The rain came down and the house went splat. Well, kind of, it was on a slope that still wanted to move down hill. There was a lot of rain followed by an earthquake and the whole hill slumped downward. That's a scarp on the hill behind it. Sad for the residents, cool for geology students. It was all pretty cool. How cool you ask...

This cool.
